Bread and Butter

Berlin Fashion Week is over... Temperatures are still high. Lookin chic, even professional in this kind of weather is difficult. A shift dress is good, but thanks to short suits, you can mix things up. I personally prefer light colors like white and cream. Keeping it simple gives it a professional touch like my Bread and Butter outfit on the right. Goofing off in front of a camera gives it a fun summery spin though...

Roses are Red...

Sometimes I just need a quick fix. At a certain age most people have their routine when getting ready and so do I, but ever so often I either do not have the time to follow it or I just don't like what I see. And right then and there bright lipsticks become my weapon of choice. It's not like I don't use the aproximate 40 lipsticks I own regularly, but I DON'T. So putting on bright lipstick while keeping the rest of the make up simple(=taking 2 min. to put on foundation and mascara) is something special. It changes the entire look and gives you a very artsy attitude. People will look at you and you will have to take it. B/c you look great. In spring/summer red hues with orange undertones are really great b/c they complement fresh and popping colors well and are not as severe as deep red lipstick. I personally like to keep my outfit very understated when wearing red lips as seen on the right. But you can also go for a more romantic look with it or try Kirsten Dunst's color blocking look.

Kentucky Derby

Preppy chic is yet again on the rise. A simple polo shirt, pleated skirt or pearls do the trick. Incorporating one of those pieces in an outfit instantly adds a preppy touch. Don't want to channel Maria Sharapova or a Yale grad gone bad? Add some nice brogues! Cut-out ones are perfect for summer and add a touch of country club meets Parisian street style to your outfit.

Luck be a Lady

Finding the balance between the much dreaded "professional attire" and being comfy and chic is probably harder than finding the holy grail. Depending on your line of work dress codes can be tough. But the good old skinny jeans is a save bet. Paired with a nice dressy top you can go wild with the accessories. In the right-hand picture it would be the platforms. This works the other way around too: If you have one funky item you wish to wear pair it with classy staples like plain black heels and a basic purse. Rule number one for "professional attire" is balance. You can pretty much wear anything to work as long as you do not go way over top and ALWAYS carry a quick fix with you. Depending on the outfit that should be a pair of flats, opaque tights or a long cardigan. After all the first reaction of a co-worker is the best indicator concerning the appropriateness of your outfit.

Heavenly Hues

As soon as spring rolls around the beauty counter is decked out with pastel and other pop colour nail polishes. Personally I am not the biggest fan since it is hard to match your outfit to the respective colour without going all Malibu Stacy. One of trends for spring appears to be all kinds of blue hues and they tend to work just fine on most people.

Alexa Chung rocked some blue polish @ Coachella

Lauren Conrad was spotted out wearing a light hue

I want, I want, I want!!

I am in love with the new ERDEM collection. Those florals are super cute! Check them out:

Take a Hike

Combat boots are great to dress down any outfit. Pair them with a great flowy dress or skinny jeans and a heavy knit cardigan. The Tommy Hilfiger duck boots put a new twist on it, but you can very well take your good old Dr. Martens for a spin as well.
Make sure they look worn in and are super comfy and you are good to go...
