Berlin Fashion Week is over... Temperatures are still high. Lookin chic, even professional in this kind of weather is difficult. A shift dress is good, but thanks to short suits, you can mix things up. I personally prefer light colors like white and cream. Preppy chic is yet again on the rise. A simple polo shirt, pleated skirt or pearls do the trick. Incorporating one of those pieces in an outfit instantly adds a preppy touch. Don't want to channel Maria Sharapova or a Yale grad gone bad? Add some nice brogues! Cut-out ones are perfect for summer and add a touch of country club meets Parisian street style to your outfit.
Finding the balance between the much dreaded "professional attire" and being comfy and chic is probably harder than finding the holy grail. Depending on your line of work dress codes can be tough. But the good old skinny jeans is a save bet. Paired with a nice dressy top you can go wild with the accessories. In the right-hand picture it would be the platforms. This works the other way around too: If you have one funky item you wish to wear pair it with classy staples like plain black heels and a basic purse. Rule number one for "professional attire" is balance. You can pretty much wear anything to work as long as you do not go way over top and ALWAYS carry a quick fix with you. Depending on the outfit that should be a pair of flats, opaque tights or a long cardigan. After all the first reaction of a co-worker is the best indicator concerning the appropriateness of your outfit.
